Pillars of community Development is a micro finance institution that fights poverty with a passion. It makes for expansion of mostly women financially, socially and most importantly health wise.
Pillars of community development operates like other finance organizations but make a difference by going a step further to care for the health and welfare of her clients. A trail blazer indeed.
The health department was birthed because the organization believes that when you are healthy, you can fend for your family.
The health department is marked by seasoned nurses well versed in the art of Nursing, registered and chattered in their difference specialties.
Health officers at different units of PCD meet with the clients at their meeting places on their days to give health education advice on various health concerns including stress management, prevention of hypertension, HIV counseling, family planning, checking of blood pressure and other vital signs. We also make referrals to the appropriate facilities to promptly meet the health challenges of our members and their families.
The health department of the organization has helped our member’s debunk some myths held commonly about some health concerns and create awareness among our members of what to do in various cases such problems come up in them or any of their family members.
The clients now have the awareness even in cases of HIV affectation. Clients of PCD now know how to go for testing and counseling regularly all thanks to the health department.
We at health department have been able to make the women have confidence to better their lives and that of their family members and still focus on their business and develop their children and others and to know that all children can’t develop at the same pace or excel in any academic pursuits but some can learn trades and still survive and thereby reduce some health concerns associated with worry and crisis.
We go a step further to make sure our clients are informed not to just getting treated when ill but with what incase they need to get the drugs themselves at the patent medicine stores or chemist shops as the case may be. Our clients know all about drug abuse, causes, the prevention. “It is not about buying the medicine for treatment but buying the right one, for the right ailment” is our slogan.
Our clients know they can call on the health officers at anytime for counseling and advice on drugs even at night.
We are all about preventive health and also preach the use of condoms to avoid sexually transmitted infections in both sexes.
In conclusion, the health department of PCD says “Your Health is Our Business”.
